A maisonette is defined as an apartment with at least two floors connected by an internal staircase. If the attic is added as a living room and is connected, for example, by a gallery with the underlying space, we can also call it an attic apartment. The example project involved the development of a loft apartment set up with a open two-storey space. The gallery is connected with the underlying living area via a steel and wood staircase. Dormer windows with small balcony-like recesses give rise to a light-filled room with views of the surrounding treetops. The old floorboards were removed and the roof has been left visible.
